The word Rudraksha literally means “tears of Lord Shiva”. According to one legend, Lord Shiva sat in meditation for many millennia with his eyes closed. Upon opening his eyes, he shed tears of ecstasy, which fell to the Earth and become the holy Rudraksha tree. Rudraksh beads were Lord Shiva’s gift to the World.
Who Can Wear a Rudraksha?
Anyone, irrespective of gender, culture, ethnic, geographical, or religious background can wear Rudraksha.
How to wear Rudraksha?
No other beads or gems are as auspicious and powerful as Rudraksha and it will never do any harm to wearer unlike NavRatnas (9 gems of 9 planets which are to chosen carefully). It can worn all times, including during sleep and while doing one’s spiritual practices. Rudraksha can be wear by cast in gold, Silver, Copper or Panchdhatu (Panchloha or Alloy of five metals Gold, Silver, Copper, Iron and Brass), without damaging the Rudraksha. But it should not come in contact with metal thereafter, so it is advisable not to place them in metal containers.
Conditioning of Rudraksha?
To condition new Rudraksha beads, immerse them in Ghee (Thuppa) for 24 hrs and then soak in full fat milk for another 24 hrs. Wipe the beads with clean cloth, but do not wash them with soap. Conditioning should take place every six months.
You have to do Pran Prathista (give life to the Rudraksha) by worshiping and chanting corresponding mantras depending on the type of the Rudraksha to energize. It is believed that one, who wears Rudraksha on their bodies, cannot be affected by sins. Even if, one wears Rudraksha on his body, without doing worship and saying sacred mantras as Rudraksha itself has powers and energizes to destroy any sinful thoughts or deeds.
